According to the President, this will allow the country to better advocate its interests in the European Union, the news agency Elta announces.

- Regional cooperation is becoming more visible within the EU. Like with the other Baltic countries, Lithuania and the Nordic countries share common interests, regional development perspectives and face Baltic Sea challenges, Dalia Grybauskaite says.

- There are a number of issues, where the experience of the Nordic countries can be very useful for us both on national and regional levels. That is why it is vital for Lithuania to promote and strengthen cooperation with the Nordic countries and together advocate common interests in the EU, the President underlined in the meeting with the Committee of European Affairs of the Lithuanian Parliament.

According to Dalia Grybauskaite, joining forces would allow developing strategic infrastructure projects in the Baltic Sea Region, connecting to the European energy and transport systems and increasing security in the field of energy of Lithuania and other Baltic countries.
