At the UN climate summit in South Africa in December 2011, the world's leaders will meet to find a solution for the challenges to our climate. The Nordic Council of Ministers is funding the project “Climate Change in the Classroom”, where school children will role play as delegates at the climate conference in Durban 2011.

One of the conclusions of an extensive new study of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Nordic education system is that PISA restricts innovative thinking in education. More entrepreneurial forms of teaching would, for example, help cut the drop-out rates that plague education in some of the Nordic countries.

In addition, the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, in co-operation with the Aalto University in Finland, will organised a major climate festival, which in turn will be linked to the Climate Day events.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has decided to repeat last year's Nordic Climate Day for school pupils in all five Nordic countries. It will once again be on 11 November. The climate has also been selected as a priority topic in the educational programme Nordplus, which runs in both the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Climate film prize to Faroes

First prize in the Nordic climate film competition REClimate has gone to the Faroe Island. The Nordic Council of Ministers' made the announcement at COP15 in Copenhagen. The €2,000 prize went to Jákup Klein, Jóannes Martin Johannesen and Hermann Mørkøre for their film Burden.
