The European Commission will organise the first Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The Forum will include a presentation and discussion of the first draft implementation report, as well as updates on the various priority areas included in the strategy. All interested parties are invited.

"Riga meetings" is a two-day workshop for Nordic-Baltic film professionals. The workshop follows up on the activities of the Nordic-Baltic meetings held in Riga in 2009. There will also be focus on developing and strengthening the Nordic and Baltic network between film directors.

Why do writers continue to focus on the family? What do modern family sagas tell us about the family as a social institution in today's society? Can this be linked to the Norse sagas? Four Nordic guests explain: Else Mundal, Professor of Old Norse Philology at the University of Bergen, Norway. The three others are writers of modern family sagas: Kim Blaesbjerg (DK), Helena Henschen (SVE) and Ragnhild Nilstun from Norway (N).

Nordic Festival in Tartu

Six members of the "Nordic Chain" meet every year in one of the member towns. In 2009 that town was Uppsala, and now the town of Tartu will host the festival.
The festival is a meeting place for discussion on what the Northern Region can offer in the way of challenges, ideas and experiences.

Madis Kanarbik from the Nordic Council of Ministers' branch office in Tartu (NCM) will introduce the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration 2009-2013.
The NCM Office in Estonia administers funding for government officials in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

The artists are Toomas Lapp (Greenland), Göte Ask (Sweden/Gotland), Grete Kodi (the Faroe Islands) and Fred Jüssi (Iceland).

It has been 20 years since Lithuania re-established its relations with the Nordic countries. The first representation of the international organization – Nordic Council of Ministers – opened in 1991. Experience of the cooperation, Nordic partnership and contributions to principles of future cooperation will be discussed at the conference.
