Nordic co-operation on forestry
Nordic agriculture is very diverse in terms of its climatic and geographical conditions, but the Region as a whole faces a number of common challenges.
Issues such as the climate, bio-energy and fiercer competition mean that the industry must constantly renew itself and develop innovative ways of thinking.
Environmental problems and climate change also increase the need for sustainable development in agriculture.
Why co-operate on agriculture?
Political discussion and follow-up on partnership projects that have specific Nordic relevance helps to achieve greater cohesion and enables the Region to make more of an impact in international arenas.
Work is done to highlight the local and regional significance of the forest, and to promote economic, ecological, social and cultural values.
In general, sustainable forestry is promoted by research, development and training, especially through research co-operation in the Nordic Forest Research Co-operation Committee (SNS) as well as by network-building and the exchange of experiences and information.
