The role of the Nordic countries in reducing Short-lived Climate Forcers, SLCF

Nordic Oceans Conference: Seas the Future

Green economic growth in a changing climate has priority focus in Nordic cooperation today. The purpose of the Nordic Oceans Conference, Seas the Future, is to bring the fisheries and maritime sectors more clearly into the focus on sustainable growth, with prominent international, government, industry and research representatives from a range of sectors sharing their perspectives on the prospects and challenges for a sustainable future living off the sea across the North Atlantic. The Conference is organised and hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Faroe Islands, in collaboration with, and with support from, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Atlantic Cooperation (NORA).
Restoring the North - International conference on restoration of damaged ecosystems in northern regions

ReNo is a Nordic multidisciplinary network of scientists, practitioners, policy makers and entrepreneurs working with ecological restoration. The network is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and is one of four theme projects initiated by the Icelandic Ministry of Environment for 2009, when Iceland is leading the NCM. All the Nordic countries participate in the project. ReNo is organising an international conference, Restoring the North, in May 2011. There we will explore restoration in northern areas and participate in exchange of experiences between science, policy and praxis.
Nordic Council of Ministers/EU-seminar: "An Arctic Agenda"

"An Arctic Agenda” is especially targeted at how and where the EU can make a difference in the Arctic. The seminar will present focussed discussions around the themes Environment, Economy and Innovation and Civil Society. The background for the seminar lies in two previous conferences on the Arctic hosted by the Nordic Council of Ministers: "Common Concern for the Arctic" and "Arctic - Changing Realities".
Seminar on Co-operation in the Arctic

The seminar entitled "The Arctic Future - Co-operation in the Face of Change" is being organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of the United States and the Nordic Embassies.
Conference on co-operation in the Baltic Sea and Arctic - inspiration from Stoltenberg

A half-day conference on the challenges and governance in the Baltic Sea area, the Barents area, the North and the Arctic. Different topics to be discussed include energy security, utilisation of resources, control instruments etc. Attendance is free but registration is required. Registration deadline latest 14 September 2010 to nor@um.dk. The conference is co-organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Danish Foreign Ministry and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).

Changing Seas - Workshop on effects of climate change on marine ecosystems

The aim of this workshop is to bring together scientists, managers and others with an interest in climate change and marine environments. During two days about 20 speakers will present the latest information and all participants will get the possibility to formulate new issues and research fields as recommendations to the Nordic Council of Ministers.
