The Nordic Youth Council's annual session will be held in Christiansborg, Copenhagen, Denmark. The Session is traditionally organised during the weekend before the Nordic Council's Session. This year the session will begin with a seminar on Friday 28 October. The themes for this year's session and seminar are the Baltic Sea and human rights.

The Nordic Youth Council (NYC) and the Nordic Youth Association (FNUF) arrange a seminar on human rights in the Baltic region. Human rights will be discussed especially from three different perspectives: LGBTQ rights, trafficking, and workers rights in the labour market. The seminar is open to the public and free of charge.

The Baltic Sea Region Programme is holding a conference in Jyväskylä, Finland focusing on developing the region into a model region in Europe. The speakers include Finland's President, Tarja Halonen, Finnish Minister of Finance, Mauri Pekkarinen. Academic speakers include John Bachtler from the European Policies Research Centre in Glasgow and Ole Damsgaard, Director of Nordregio.

On the 14-15 October 2010, the first Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region will be held. Seminar on the Danish priorities and action areas, 23 September 2010
The seminar will take stock of the implementation of the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and discuss how it can be used to facilitate priorities regarding EU's new growth strategy (Europe 2020) - including how co-operation in the adjacent areas can help to promote competitiveness and green growth opportunities, as well as what is required to get business more involved.

A half-day conference on the challenges and governance in the Baltic Sea area, the Barents area, the North and the Arctic. Different topics to be discussed include energy security, utilisation of resources, control instruments etc.

The conference is co-organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Danish Foreign Ministry and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).

The Nordic Council of Ministers' co-operation with the European Commission has drawn attention to a limited knowledge of the work of the Council of Ministers in some regions in the Baltic Sea area. This could potentially prevent synergies arising between regional, Nordic and European initiatives and collaborative activities - and thus limit the possibilities for realising the objectives of the Baltic Sea Strategy.
Against this background, the Council of Ministers took the initiative, in co-operation with the Informal Baltic Sea Group (IBSG) and the EU Commission's DG Regional Policy, to hold a joint seminar in Brussels on 29 June 2010.

The 12th Baltic Development Forum Summit was held in Vilnius on 1-2 June 2010 under the title ”European Challenges – Regional Solutions, An Agenda for Jobs, Investments and Sustainable Growth”.
The Council of Ministers was also the strategic summit partner in 2010 and in that connection co-financed, amongst other things, the annual "State of the Region Report”

In 11 years the Baltic Sea must be unaffected by eutrophication and hazardous substances, the marine biodiversity must be favourable and shipping environmentally-friendly, according to an agreement taken by all the Baltic Sea states and the EU Commission. On 20 May the Baltic Sea states will present their national implementation plans to meet the objectives of the Baltic Sea Action Plan. Are the measures adequate and can the plans be implemented in practice? A Nordic seminar in the Swedish Parliament, on Tuesday 25 May.
