Nordic School of Public Health (NHV) and the Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues (NVC) host a lunch seminar.
Seminar: Value for money? Quality assurance and monitoring the conditions for children growing up in the Nordic service system.: Date: Oct 11, 2011 to Oct 12, 2011; Under the auspices of the Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues, the focus of the seminar will be the organization and financing of social care, children and youth with special needs and the development of "best practice" in social care and services for children. The target groups are the Nordic authorities responsible for the organisation and supervision of public services for children.

Culture for Life 2011 - Nordic conference on culture, health and quality of life: Date: Oct 06, 2011 to Oct 07, 2011; Take part and influence the future of the welfare society! The conference aims to impart knowledge and invite dialogue on research and practice in the field of culture, health and quality of life. The participants will be politicians, scientists and social commentators from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Finland will also present its cross-party action programme for culture and welfare.

Conference: Future welfare challenges in the Nordic Region, and the role of the trade unions: Date: Jun 19, 2011 to Jun 22, 2011; Nordic Public Services Council (NTR) is a co-operation forum for trade unions for public-sector employees in the Nordic countries. The NTR conference is an annual meeting place for key shop stewards and employees.
Are we selling out the Nordic welfare model - or can we buy the solution in the private sector?: Date: Jun 16, 2011 to Jun 16, 2011; Debate meeting at the People's Meeting on Bornholm with Henrik Dam Kristensen (President of the Nordic Council), Niels Milling (Deputy Chief Executive of the Danish Chamber of Commerce), Harald Børsting (Chairman of the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, LO), Martin Ågerup (Director, CEPOS), Kristian Madsen (Leader writer, Politiken), Henrik Bach Mortensen (Director, DA) and Tone Mørk (Director, Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues). The Moderator of the meeting is TV host Clement Kjergaard. The meeting is being co-organised by the Nordic Council and the Danish Chamber of Commerce and will take place in the "Opinion Ministry" in Kampeløkken Harbour, Allinge on Bornholm.
Nordic network meeting on violence in close relationships and violence against women: Date: May 30, 2011 to May 31, 2011; In conjunction with the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare invites to a meeting for the exchange of experiences and knowledge. Researchers, politicians and others who work with issues of violence in close relationships or violence against women are welcome.
Nordic Festival in Tartu: Date: May 23, 2011 to May 29, 2011; Six members of the "Nordic Chain" meet every year in one of the member towns. In 2009 that town was Uppsala, and now the town of Tartu will host the festival. The festival is a meeting place for discussion on what the Northern Region can offer in the way of challenges, ideas and experiences.

We are pleased to invite you to a workshop on 8 April 2011 in Copenhagen to identify the need for information and communication about Nordic co-operation in the research and education, and the social and health care sectors. The basis for this is that a great deal of good and relevant work is being done within Nordic co-operation but that this is altogether too little known within the Nordic Region. This fact is unsatisfactory and needs to be addressed.

These are some of the questions to be answered when the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the National Institute for Health and Welfare and Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues arrange the conference "What Role will the Nordic Welfare Model Play in Globalization?". The conference takes place in Helsinki.

Debate: The future welfare in Sweden and Finland: Date: Jan 27, 2011 to Jan 28, 2011; For think tanks and institutions from Sweden and Finland. The aim is to create a network of think tanks and to increase interest in, and knowledge of, current socio-political issues. Future funding and organisation of welfare, in relation to the EU, as well as differences and similarities between the think tanks from Sweden and Finland will be discussed.
Conference on vulnerable children and young people, with focus on criminal children and adolescents and those at risk.: Date: Dec 13, 2010 to Dec 15, 2010; The conference is being co-organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs and SFI (The Danish National Centre for Social Research). The conference aims to strengthen co-operation, dialogue and exchange of experiences, including both practical and research experience in efforts for young criminals and those at risk of crime. The target group for the conference is government officials and researchers.
Nordic conference on self-care in chronic disease: Date: Dec 03, 2010 to Dec 03, 2010; The National Board of Health is holding a conference on self-care in chronic disease. The conference aims to throw light on different possibilities to develop patients' ability for self-care and skills competency in chronic disease and identify the need and possibilities of joint Nordic co-operation.
ADHD - New focus on ADHD from a social angle: Date: Dec 01, 2010; The Ministry of Social Affairs will focus on ADHD in a Nordic perspective. The conference will focus on technical aids and guidelines for measures in the non-medical field.
