Nordic Council of Ministers for Health and Social Affairs (MR-S)
The Nordic governments' co-operation within the social and health care sector is led by the Nordic ministers for health and social affairs who make up MR-S. Nordic co-operation within the social and health care area is based on common values which constitute the basis of the Nordic welfare model.
The Nordic Council of Ministers for Culture (MR-K)
The ministers for culture in the Nordic countries and the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland have the overriding responsibility for cultural co-operation within the Nordic Council of Ministers. The overall goal includes encouraging diversity of cultural expression and promoting artists and their work.
Nordic Council of Ministers for the Environment (MR-M)
The Nordic governments' environmental co-operation is run by MR-M. The environmental co-operation, amongst other things, aims to protect and improve the quality of the environment and quality of life in the Nordic countries, and influence regional and international co-operation.
Council of Ministers for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS)
MR-FJLS consists of one council of ministers covering four policy areas: Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The core tasks of MR-FJLS involve promoting sustainable use of nature and genetic resources.
Nordic Council of Ministers for Business, Energy & Regional Policy (MR-NER)
The Nordic countries' co-operation in business, energy and regional policies will ensure continued growth in the region. This co-operation is led by the Nordic ministers for business, energy and regional policy.
Council of Ministers for Finance (MR-FINANS)
The Nordic governments' co-operation in the economic and financial area is led by the Nordic ministers for finance who make up MR-FINANS. The co-operation lays the foundation for promoting Nordic interests internationally and for an increasingly comprehensive global economic integration.
Nordic Council of Ministers for Education and Research (MR-U)
The Nordic governments' co-operation in the field of research and education is led by the Nordic ministers of education and research, MR-U. The council of ministers works to ensure that the Nordic Region maintains a leading position the field of knowledge and competencies.
Nordic Council of Ministers for Legislative Affairs (MR-LAG)
The Nordic governments' co-operation in the area of legislation is led by the Nordic ministers of justice who make up MR-LAG. Legislative co-operation is a tool for the Nordic countries in the work to promote the fundamental common principles of Nordic legislation.
Council of Ministers for Gender Equality (MR-JÄM)
The Nordic governments' co-operation in the area of gender equality is led by the Nordic ministers for gender equality which makes up MR-JÄM. The Nordic countries' joint cultural, historical and democratic traditions allow them to develop a close and constructive partnership in the areas of gender equality.
Nordic Council of Ministers for Labour (MR-A)
The Nordic governments' co-operation within the field of employment and the labour market, as well as the areas of working environment and labour legislation, are led by the Nordic ministers for labour and employment, which make up the MR-A.
Ministers for Co-operation (MR-SAM)
In practice the Ministers for Nordic Co-operation, on behalf of the Prime Ministers, assume responsibility for the co-ordination of inter-governmental co-operation.
