Important requirements and qualifications

It is a requirement for employment in the Nordic Council of Ministers' Secretariat that you are fluent in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, both written and spoken. All written and verbal communication will be carried out in these three languages.

In addition, for the majority of our positions, it is an advantage that you have experience from the public sector and preferably from work in ministries or public administration possibly from an international organisation.

The requirements for personal qualifications vary from job to job, but in general it is an advantage if you are flexible and good at working with others. We are a political organisation with several work commissioners. You will therefore need to deal with a high level of work pressure at times.

Our working culture is influenced by the many different nationalities represented in our Secretariat, and we place great weight on openness and tolerance from our staff.

The split of nationalities varies. As we are located in Copenhagen we receive most applications from Denmark, however, we prioritise diversity, both in regard to gender and nationality.

We have many types of positions, but we have in common the fact that we are all employed for no more than 8 years. In addition to the Council of Ministers' policy areas there are also jobs in the Communication, IT, web, finance and, service and HR departments. The positions are divided into the following types; head of department, senior adviser/adviser, department co-ordinator/co-ordinator and administrative staff.

After your employment in the Nordic Council of Ministers you will have gained solid experience in Nordic co-operation, and you will have learnt to navigate in an international political organisation.
