‘Working life in the Nordic Region’

Dec 09, 2004

‘Flexibility in the labour market’ is the theme of the latest edition of the magazine ‘Working Life in the Nordic Region’ ('Arbeidsliv i Norden' ) which has just been published.

Flexibility has become the buzz word in working life. The question is whether employers and employees have the same understanding of the concept.

“The theme of the latest edition of ‘Working Life in the Nordic Region’ is ‘Flexibility – on whose terms?’ which focuses on strict Swedish labour rights, Danish 'flexicurity' and the Finnish attempt to introduce family policies into the workplace,” explains editor Berit Kvam.

The magazine also writes about Norwegian companies which hire foreign labour and are directed by the tariff tribunal to pay equal wages for equal work.
