“Open debates are good”

Nov 01, 2004

The spokesman for the Swedish Parliament, Björn von Sydow, emphasized the importance of open debates when he opened the Nordic Council’s Session in Stockholm on Monday afternoon.

“Debates in the Nordic Council are sharp and direct. Our democracies are so solid and have such strong deep-rooted public support that we cope with this,” said the Swedish spokesman. Our policies touch people’s everyday life.

He also mentioned the EU’s enlargement and the challenge it brought to disseminate and to preserve the democratic model in Europe and the rest of the world.
