Journalists can now apply for accreditation to the Session of the Nordic Council in Stockholm, 28-30 October. The annual autumn Session is the biggest Nordic forum of the year and attracts members of parliament, prime ministers, opposition leaders and government ministers from the whole of the Nordic Region.

How can the Nordic countries benefit more from co-operation in the education, integration and labour market sectors? The summit meeting between Nordic parliamentarians and prime ministers from the whole region which opens the session will go right to the core of the Nordic model. The labour market theme recurs in several proposals from the Nordic Council to be discussed during the session.

During the Nordic Council session the Nordic prime ministers will meet amongst themselves, with the Baltic prime ministers and with the Nordic Council Presidium. The Nordic Ministers of Co-operation and the Foreign Ministers will meet the Presidium. In addition, the ministers of finance, environment, trade and culture will meet in policy ministerial meetings during the Session week.

The Nordic Ministers of Finance will be prepared to answer questions on financial issues at Wednesday's question time. On Wednesday there will also be a debate on international and security policy in the plenary session.

The Nordic Council prize ceremony

The winners of the Nordic Council prizes will be announced on Wednesday 29 October. The prize ceremony will take place in Stockholm's City Hall presented by Mark Levengood and followed by a press conference and photo session.

The winners of the Nordic Council literature, children and young people’s literature, film, music, and nature and the environment prizes will take part the same evening in a specially produced programme which will be televised to all the Nordic countries.

Journalists wanting to cover the Nordic Council session and prize ceremony must apply for accreditation by 23 October at the latest via this link. You must have a valid and current press card.

The Nordic Council is the official inter-parliamentary body. The autumn session is the annual forum for political debate between the council and the Nordic governments, represented in the Nordic Council of Ministers. You can follow the session on Twitter with hashtags #nrsession and #nrpol.
