Accreditation open for the Nordic Council's Theme Session on Defence and Foreign policy

Nordic defence policy, foreign policy and civil public security will be the main topics at the Nordic Council Theme Session meeting in Stockholm from 10-11 April. Several Nordic Defence and Foreign Ministers will also take part in the debate. Accreditation is now open for journalists wishing to cover the Theme Session.

The Nordic Council places defence and preparedness high on the agenda under Norway's Presidency of the Nordic Council 2013. In Stockholm, the Council will meet for meetings in the party groups and committees on 10 April. The theme debate in plenary assembly starts on 11 April at 11, with the participation of Sweden's Minister of Defence, Karin Enström, Finland's Minister of Defence, Carl Haglund, Finland's Foreign Minister, Erkki Tuomioja and Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.

The theme debate will open with a report from the representatives for the Nordic countries' governments on Nordic foreign, security and defence policy, including public security. Afterwards the individual proposals on the agenda will be discussed. The Theme Session will conclude with a statement from the Nordic Council on foreign and defence policy in the Region, presented by the Council President, Marit Nybakk.

Immediately after the theme debate the conclusions from the Theme Session will be summarised at a press conference.
