Agreement to combat tax evasion signed with Barbados
Information exchange agreements are part of a Nordic Council of Ministers' project to strengthen global efforts to prevent tax evasion.
Information exchange agreements provide the tax authorities with access to information about the capital investments and incomes of all those who seek to avoid tax and help reveal assets not declared at home.
For constitutional reasons, these agreements are concluded on a bilateral basis, so each one has to be ratified by the national parliaments.
The agreement was signed on Thursday 3 November 2011. The Nordic countries signed a similar agreement with Bahrain in October.
