Application for funding from KreaNord opens on 27 March 2013

KreaNord, under the Nordic Council of Ministers, calls for applications for funding in the creative industries in the Nordic Region. The first round of applications opens on 27 March. You can apply for up to DKK 1 million (134 000 EUR). The administration of KreaNord's new programme will be managed by Nordic Culture Point from March 2013.

With this programme, KreaNord aims to improve the growth potential of the cultural and creative industries in the Nordic Region. The purpose of the initiative is to encourage people to think in terms of cohesive industries in the Nordic Region - either through co-operation between existing industry organisations or by establishing new ones. It is an advantage for the projects to run over several years.

It is crucial for the evaluation of a project that the aim is to create growth in the industry. In addition, emphasis is placed on the project having a knock-on effect and contributing to growth in other creative industries.

Who can apply?

KreaNord's programme is open to all players in the creative industries in the Nordic Region. Industry organisations, in particular, are encouraged to apply. If there is no Nordic industry organisation there is also the possibility of applying for funding to set one up. During the process of assessing applications, weight will be placed in particular on major strategic projects with a strong Nordic focus. Each applicant and project can apply for funding up to DKK 1 million, equivalent to 134,000 EUR.

As is the case with the other programmes that Nordic Culture Point administers, i.e. the Culture and Art Programme, the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture and NORDBUK, there must be a strong Nordic dimension to the project for funding to be allocated. Amongst other things, there is a requirement that there must be partners from at least three countries, of which at least two must be Nordic. It may be an advantage for the third country not to be one of the Nordic countries. It may also be a non-European country.

The most important difference between this programme and the other ones administered by Nordic Culture Point is that KreaNord focuses on the creative industries. There must therefore be a commercial aspect to the applications.

If there are countries outside the Region involved in the project, the leading aspect of the project must be Nordic. The project must also promote co-operation and improve contact between the Nordic countries.

Purpose

The overarching purpose of the programme is to promote Nordic co-operation in the Nordic creative sector. Through this programme, KreaNord will help develop the creative industries, and contribute to the creation of a prosperous, creative and competitive Nordic Region.
