Competition to find solutions to climate change

Does your organisation have a practical solution to assist municipalities and other local and regional actors to better control the effects of climate change? The Associations of Local Authorities in Finland, Sweden and Norway and the Nordic Council of Ministers are organising an international competition to search for new or as yet unestablished business concepts, practices and technologies to better control the effects of climate change.

The competition is targeted primarily at different organisations, companies and municipalities in the Nordic countries and the Baltic Sea region. The winners will be rewarded in connection with the Nordic Conference on Sustainable Development in Turku in Finland in late January and early February 2011. The winners will gain publicity, customer contacts, and assistance in the marketing of their own solutions.

The objective of the competition is help to combat climate change, support local and regional economics, employment and general well-being, and lead to concrete changes in the practices of the municipalities and their residents.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is the main sponsor of the competition. Other partners include, for example, the Nordic Innovation Centre (NICe), the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO).

Competition entries should be submitted by 30 September at the latest.
