Does sustainability pay?

Is the Nordic objective of green growth compatible with sustainable development? Or is the green aspect merely a thinly disguised veneer on the surface of growth thinking?

The Nordic Region has a reputation as a pioneer in sustainability.

When the Nordic Council of Ministers published its initial sustainability strategy in 2001, it was the first attempt by any region in the world to suggest how a sustainable society might come about. In the intervening decade the Nordic countries have shown that growth is possible without exacerbating the impact on the environment.

But where do we stand today and what initiatives are being taken at Nordic level?

AnalysNorden looks at the green agenda in the Nordic Region and asks whether we can afford both sustainability and growth – or whether there are alternatives?
