Excellence in research
NordForsk and a number of other bodies are organising an international conference, Excellence in Research Stems from People, about the conditions that foster excellence in Åbo, Finland, 27–28 August 2007.
Excellence in Research Stems from People will bring together European researchers, representatives of industry, politicians and other key decision makers in European and Nordic research. The aim is to improve mutual understanding of the conditions that help foster excellence at national, regional and global levels.
In the same spirit as the 2006 conference Investing in Research and Innovation (N-IRI), the Åbo gathering will approach the topic from a variety of different angles but will focus on the researcher as a crucial resource.
The organisers are the Finnish Ministry of Education, the Nordic Council of Ministers, NordForsk, the Academy of Finland and the European Research Council. The conference forms part of the programme for the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers 2007.
