Facilitator for freedom of movement
Norwegian lawyer Helge Kringstad has been appointed facilitator for freedom of movement in the business sector by the Ministers for Nordic Co-operation and the Council of Ministers for Trade, Energy and Regional Policies (MR-NER).
The aim is to achieve tangible results in the sector and improve the status of the Nordic Region as a dynamic and competitive business region. Kringstad would welcome input from the business community and any other interested parties to make sure that his efforts are as topical and relevant as possible.
The Nordic Region needs to be a single workplace and an integrated home market - in which business is able to operate freely – as well as an attractive region for investors. Globalisation and international competition make Nordic cross-border co-operation even more necessary.
The facilitator will help generate the requisite will to change by exerting appropriate political and administrative "pressure" on Nordic public bodies to ensure that they implement the joint political policy of promoting cross-border freedom of movement.
