Jobs on youth agenda
Young people and the labour market will be the theme of the annual Session of the Nordic Youth Council 2010 in Reykjavik.
Youth unemployment has been on the rise in the Nordic Region in the wake of the financial crisis. At its annual Session in Reykjavik, the Nordic Youth Council (UNR) is organising a seminar to highlight the opportunities available to young people on the labour market. Speakers will include the Icelandic Minister of Social Affairs, Guðbjartur Hannesson.
“We are aiming for a seminar that provides a multifaceted picture of the opportunities available on the labour market," says Minna Lindberg, President of the UNR 2010.
The young politicians will also debate a number of policy proposals and forward them to the Nordic Council.
The annual Session of the UNR brings together young politicians from across the Region. It will be held in Hotel Loftleiðir, 29-31 October, just before the annual Session of the Nordic Council.
The Nordic Youth Council is the parliamentary assembly for young politicians in the Region. They provide a new perspective on the debates taking place within official Nordic circles.
