Link Nordic co-operation with the EU
Head of Department Stefan Hult and Adviser Ann Zachrison Nilsson, Sweden write the above in an article ‘Debate on Modernisation of Nordic Co-operation'.
“Since Finland and Sweden joined the EU Nordic co-operation has changed. In the work of all the Nordic countries the focus of international work has taken on a definite EU slant. In most international co-operative work there is an EU dimension and it is clear from contact with our colleagues that the question of how a current matter stands in an EU perspective is always raised”.
“When Nordic issues are discussed they are often considered in relation to the EU. We believe this is positive. Colleagues will show greater interest in Nordic matters if the issues are looked at in a wider international context. If Nordic co-operation is to survive on a political level we must broaden our mindset and take Europe and the rest of the world into the picture”.
