Media info: Nordic Council discusses the Arctic

The Nordic Council is discussing the controversial question of a Nordic strategy for the Arctic Region at its meeting in Reykjavik, 21-23 March. The agenda also includes oil extraction in the Arctic and recommendations for allocating responsibilities in the event of environmental incidents.

A plenary session in the Icelandic parliament on Friday 23 March, 08:30-11:45 local time, will be broadcast live on-line at www.norden.org/temasession2012. A press conference will be held immediately afterwards.

Journalists who wish to cover the theme session are requested to apply for accreditation to the Nordic Council Communications Department/Mette Højberg meh@norden.org. Accredited journalists must present a valid press card on arrival at the parliament.

The winner of the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2012 will be announced at a ceremony in the Assembly Hall at the University of Iceland on 22 March at 19:00 local time. The winner will attend a press conference straight after the ceremony, which will also be streamed on www.norden.org/litteraturpriset.
