New Ålandic delegation to the Nordic Council
Åland has a new delegation to the Nordic Council following the general election in October. Ordinary members of the delegation are Raija-Liisa Eklöw from Åland’s Liberal Party (Centre Group in the Nordic Council) and Fredrik Karlström from the Non-aligned Rally (Conservative Group).
Veronica Thörnroos (Åland Centre) and Johan Ehn (Freeminded Co-operation) were chosen as substitutes for Eklöw and Karlström respectively. Raija-Liisa Eklöw was a member of the previous Åland Nordic Council delegation but the three other members are completely new to Nordic co-operation.
The delegation elected Eklöw as their chairperson and to the position of Åland’s representative in the Finnish delegation's working committee while Fredrik Karlström was elected as vice-chair.
Eklöw will probably keep her place as a member of the Nordic Council's Environment and Natural Resources Committee. It has not yet been decided which committee or committees Karlström will represent.
