New head of office at the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia

Jan Widberg took over as head of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ (NCM) Office in Riga, Latvia, on 1 October 2014.

Prior to his new post at the NCM Office in Latvia, Jan Widberg was the Secretary General of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC). In 2001-2009 he was Senior International Adviser at the Nordic Council Secretariat, being responsible for the development of cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region and Northern Europe. Before that he was working for many years at the Swedish Ministry of Defence  and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, including a wide network of various cooperation institutions on the national and international level, both in the Baltic Sea Region, the Nordic countries and Europe.

Jan has a bachelor’s degree in economic geography from Lund University (Sweden). His native language is Swedish.
