More than 800 Nordic and international guests ate a gala dinner at Nordic Game in Malmø on 23 May.
New Nordic Food was on the menu and the event was a direct result of the co-operation between two of the Nordic Council of Ministers' programmes: Nordic Game Program and New Nordic Food at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier in the year.
At this event Nordic Game Program recognised the value of using Nordic food in its branding of Nordic games and this strategy has also recently been used by the film industry in Cannes. The Nordic Council of Ministers will also take the new Nordic food tradition to the UN Rio+20 conference on sustainable development next month.
The international game developers who met at the Nordic Game conference in Malmø enjoyed a three-course dinner which included cold smoked salmon, parsnip purée and red onion pickle, Swedish beef from Sjöbo and a traditional apple flan from Skåne.
The popular dinner showed once again how Nordic meals can create an effective and attractive setting for networking and business and thus be a focal point for other creative industries.
