Nordic-Baltic response to Russian propaganda

The Nordic and Baltic foreign ministers have agreed to counter Russian propaganda. At their meeting in Copenhagen today, the ministers also pledged support for Ukraine and agreed to explore funding options for climate initiatives and to pursue an ambitious global climate agreement at COP21 in Paris in December.

“Denmark has a great deal in common with the other Nordic and Baltic countries. I consider the co-operation and dialogue between us extremely important – especially at a time when the effects of the growing instability and uncertainty in the east are felt in our region. Regional co-operation and solidarity are the most effective ways of counteracting Russian propaganda and responding to Russia’s behaviour toward the Baltic countries. The meeting reaffirmed that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our Baltic neighbours, that we will continue to work together in support of Ukraine, maintain pressure on Russia and uphold security in our own region,” said the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kristian Jensen.

The ministers issued two joint declarations: one on security in the region and one on funding for climate initiatives.
