The Danish custom of deporting Nordic citizens in need of social assistance will be taken up again by the Citizens’ and Consumer Committee, while the Culture and Education Committee will discuss, amongst other things, Nordic public service.

Safety at sea and environmental threats in Arctic waters will be amongst the topics on the agenda of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. Meanwhile, the Presidium will investigate a member's proposal that will make the Nordic region a nuclear-free zone in addition to a proposal to strengthen Nordic co-operation on civic safety.

The Welfare Committee will, amongst other things, come to a decision on a Nordic electronic register for doctors, dentists, nurses and other authorised health care professionals in the Nordic countries and the autonomous territories.

The September meetings are the last time the committees meet before the Nordic Council's annual Session which will take place this year in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik from 2 till 4 November. In Malmø it will therefore be decided which cases will go forward to processing at the Session.

The Nordic Council Session brings together the prime ministers and a large number of ministers and MPs from the entire Nordic Region.
