A survey carried out as a partnership project between the think tanks Magma and Yggdrasil indicates that over half of the Nordic candidates are prepared to set up a Nordic cross-party group in the EU parliament. The survey results show that there is willingness for more Nordic co-operation at EU level on matters which are of key importance for the whole region.

A survey carried out as a partnership project between the think tanks Magma and Yggdrasil indicates that over half of the EU election candidates in Sweden, Finland and Denmark would support the establishment of a Nordic cross-party group.

63% of the EU candidates from the Nordic countries who took part in the survey answered yes to "Do you support the idea of establishing a Nordic cross-party group in the EU parliament?". In Finland the number of participants who responded yes was as high at 81.8%. In Denmark 60.5 % said yes. In Sweden 45.3 % said yes.

The EU parliament's cross-party groups are not political, i.e. EU parties such as ALDE or GUE/NGL, but are associations of MEPs interested in some specific issue. Currently there are cross-party groups united around, for example, different regions, and environment and minority questions.
