"We know from both the industry and the politicians that this initiative, which targets children and young people in particular, is a success and should continue. Although the culture ministers have not yet discussed the future of the programme, its positive reception will be taken into account in our discussions. We are particularly pleased in Iceland that the programme has been so successful, because it stems from the Icelandic programme for the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2004.
Jakobsdóttir will meet with her Nordic colleagues on Thursday to discuss the ministers' globalisation strategy for the culture sector, as well as the fine-tuning of the major reform of Nordic cultural co-operation.
The Nordic Game Programme was launched in 2006 and is part of Nordic cultural co-operation. The programme focuses on improving access to Nordic computer games for children and young people. The programme is now is in year four of six. The culture ministers have not yet taken a final decision on its future.
