Nordic journalism in constant change
A new cartoon crisis has engulfed a local newspaper, Nerikes Allehanda, in Sweden. More than ever before, the ability of the Nordic media to tread carefully, a situation that will be debated during the Nordic Journalist Centre's 50th anniversary conference, 24-25 October, in Århus.
Osama Al-Habahbeh, the Nordic reporter for the Arab tv station, Al Jazeera, will talk about the cultural divide inherent in freedom of the press, as reflected in the Arab and Scandinavian media since the original Danish cartoon crisis.
The conference, which marks a 50-year tradition of cultural and professional exchange programmes, will include presentations, workshops and discussion forums.
