Nordic profile in China
Tomorrow Friday the Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day will take place at the World EXPO in Shanghai. It aims to strengthen co-operation between China and the Nordic countries on global energy and climate challenges. Several ministers will be there, prepared to profile the Nordic region.
Karen Ellemann, Denmark's Minister for the Environment and Minister for Nordic Co-operation is taking part in the Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate in Shanghai on Friday.

In addition to a wide-range of national events taking place during the World EXPO in Shanghai, the Nordic countries are focusing on profiling the region through a number of activities. The Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day will take place on 25 June. Here the Region, through the Nordic Council of Ministers, will demonstrate the skills and potential found in the Nordic countries, and promote a process of further interaction between stakeholders in China and the Nordic countries.
The event will take place in the Nordic national pavilions and will include lectures and panel discussions from experts and leaders from the public and private sectors. Amongst those attending will be Karen Ellemann, Denmark's Minister for the Environment and Nordic Co-operation, Jan Vapaavuori, Finland's Minister of Housing and Nordic Co-operation, Palle Christiansen, Greenland's Minister of Finance and Nordic Co-operation, Johan Tiedemann, State Secretary for Sweden's Minister of Nordic Co-operation, Cristina Husmark Pehrsson, and Halvard Ingebrigtsen, State Secretary for Norway's Minister for Trade and Industry, Trond Giske. In addition, Jiang Kejun, Director of the Energy Research Institute at the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, Bo Diczfalusy, Director for Sustainable Energy Policy and Technology, IEA, and Heidi Hiltunen, Environmental Adviser, Delegation of the European Commission to China.
The Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day is part of one of the globalisation initiatives that the Nordic prime ministers have decided upon to meet global challenges. As recently as mid-May the prime ministers met at the annual Globalisation Forum. The Globalisation Forum which took place during the Danish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers focused on green growth and global energy and climate challenges were on the agenda.
