Nordic research organisation NordForsk celebrated its 10-year anniversary in Oslo on 8 October 2015. The anniversary conference debated the future model of Nordic research collaboration and identified mass migration, climate and the countries’ unique health registries as priority areas for future research.

Nordic lead in international research collaboration

NordForsk facilitates research and innovation co-operation in areas of strategic importance for the Nordic societies, which are identified together with the countries’ research councils. NordForsk’s strategy for 2015-2018 is focused on promoting research excellence, developing the research infrastructure and working towards gender equality, increased mobility and open-access to publicly funded research data. Last but not least, NordForsk’s role is to promote the findings from Nordic collaborative research initiatives in Europe and globally.

“International research cooperation is not an easy task,” said Dagfinn Høybråten, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers. “There are strong national interests when it comes to priorities and funding of research. Despite this, we’ve managed to establish a unique permanent platform for funding of common pot programmes.”
