Nordic youth support young people in Belarus
Youth politicians from the Nordic and Baltic countries met last week with young people from Belarus in a youth seminar with focus on democratic rights, free media and the commitment of young people in civic life. They called on the Nordic Council to maintain pressure on Belarus with regard to demands for more openness.

The youth seminar resulted in a resolution, which underlines the importance of a free press and freedom to organise in trade unions.
The Nordic Council's President, Helgi Hjörvar, and the President of the Nordic Youth Council, Minna Lindberg, both took part in the seminar.
"Belarus and the Baltic countries are our neighbours, however, our societies are different and young people don't have the same opportunities. It is important for us as young politicians to meet to learn from each other, share experiences and build networks for the future," said Minna Lindberg at the meeting.
