Prime ministerial support for the Oslo climate agreement

Earlier this month at a meeting in Oslo, the Nordic ministers for the environment and climate agreed on a new climate declaration. At today’s prime ministerial meeting in Bergen, Bjarni Benediktsson, Stefan Löfven, Juha Sipilä, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and Erna Solberg endorsed the declaration and the ambitious Nordic climate agenda, reaffirming the region’s leadership in this field.

The Oslo Agreement highlights climate change as one of the greatest challenges facing mankind. In their declaration, the ministers for the environment and climate state that they are determined that the parties to the Paris Agreement continue to work towards its effective and continuous implementation.

The declaration reaffirms the leading role taken by the Nordic Region at a time when such leadership is perhaps more important than ever.

The declaration reaffirms the leading role taken by the Nordic Region at a time when such leadership is perhaps more important than ever,” says Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Dagfinn Høybråten.
