Scouts in running for environment prize
The Adjudication Committee has announced which of the nominees will progress to the second round of the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize. Nine of the original 63 nominees have made it into the final round: three from Sweden, two from Denmark, two from Finland, one from Iceland and one pan-Nordic nominee, the Scouts.
It is the 15th time the DKK350,000 prize has been awarded. The prize goes to a Nordic company, organisation or person for exemplary work encouraging people to exercise in the great outdoors and who have enhanced understanding of the importance of nature in general and of physical and mental good health.
The Adjudication Committee for the Nature and Environment Prize will make its decision at a meeting on Iceland in October 7. The DKK 350,000 prize will be handed over during the annual Session of the Nordic Council in Stockholm at the end of October.

The Nordic scouts
The Nature and Environment Prize is is one of the Nordic Council's four prizes – the three others are for literature, film and music. The 2008 Environment Prize went to the Icelandic company Marorka.
