The Nordic Council suggests special marketing efforts for fashion and tourism. This comes after a decision in the Business and Industry Committee and the Presidium at the June meeting in Kungälv.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is currently working on a strategy for Nordic partnership to strengthen the Region's role and opportunities for international influence. A decision is expected to be taken at the Nordic Council Session in Stockholm at the end of October.

As an input to this work, the Nordic Council suggests that Nordic co-operation invests in areas such as fashion and tourism. It is felt that sustainable Nordic fashion should be part of the strategy, and a manifest encouraging the fashion and textile industries in the Nordic countries to support a conscious approach to factors such as the environment, sustainability, ethics and social responsibility should be drawn up.

On the tourist side it is proposed, for example, that the Nordic governments make adjustments to national regulations that govern tourism in each country and develop comparable statistics showing how tourists move about in the Region.
