The Nordic Council of Ministers has since 2005 sponsored a number of New Nordic Food activities, exploring the potential of this new cuisine. Now a new, but smaller initiative is underway, heralded in by a series of vision workshops.

The joint Nordic activities within the New Nordic Food arena have taken place in the two programmes New Nordic Food I and New Nordic Food II. They have covered a wide range of areas, engaging thousands of people and pioneered the field of culinary avantgarde. You can read about many of these activities on www.newnordicfood.org.

In 2015 the New Nordic Food programme will still continue under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers, but in a downscaled version with a smaller budget.

The scope and aim of the new programme - New Nordic Food III -  will be decided by a Nordic steering group set up under the Nordic Council of Ministers for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Foodstuffs and Forestry (MR-FJLS).

The main aim of the steering group will be to initiate, facilitate and coordinate activities grounded in the New Nordic Food manifesto.

Vision workshops

A series of workshops have been held by the outgoing steering group of the New Nordic Food programme, covering a wide range of fields from tourism and public meals, to bioeconomy and street food.

For an overview of articles summing up these workshops please see the archive site for the New Nordic Food II programme: www.newnordicfood.org. A new site will be established under www.norden.org shortly.

A workshop will also be held by the Norwegian culinary research institution Nofima in Oslo on February 11 to discuss the follow up to the New Nordic Food II programme.
