The Nordic Climate Day is joined by climate festival in Finland
It has now been decided to organise the Nordic Climate Day again this year, 2011. In addition, the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, in co-operation with the Aalto University in Finland, will organised a major climate festival, which in turn will be linked to the Climate Day events.
The Nordic Climate Day was originally launched as part of the joint Nordic initiative for COP 15 and has since continued as a climate event for schools in the entire Nordic region.
This year the climate is the main theme of the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, which explains why the climate day and the climate festival are seen as separate topical activities.
The Nordic Climate Day, which has now been organised for two consecutive years, has grown in size each year; twice as many schools took part in 2010 as in the year before. It is hoped that there will be an even greater interest this year, and a rewarding co-operation with the climate festival organised in Finland.
The climate festival will take place at the end of August 2011, and it is hoped that there will be great interest amongst both students and scientists. More detailed information about the festival will be released in the spring.
