About one third of global food production is wasted every year. How do you best create awareness about this problem? Vote for your favourite in the Nordic-Baltic ad competition on food waste.
The Nordic-Baltic ad competition on food waste was launched on World Environment Day in collaboration with UNEP and it is a part of the UNs Zero Hunger Challenge.
Enormous quantities of food are thrown away every day. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), about one third of global food production is lost or wasted annually.
Per capita waste by consumers in Europe is between 95 and 115 kgs per year. How much do you waste?
The Nordic-Baltic ad competition on food waste puts a spotlight on the issue.
Vote for your favourite ad in the competition - voting ends August 25.
The Nordic Council of Ministers along with the UN Information Centre in Brussels have launched the competition as a contribution to the increasing public focus on the problem of food waste.
On August 30, the winner of the public vote will be announced.
Along with 14 other entries selected by an international jury this ad will compete for the 5000 Euro Nordic Council of Ministers award, which will be handed over at a major food waste event held by the NGO Stop Wasting Food in Copenhagen on October 4th.
An exhibition of the 15 finalists will be on tour in the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as North-Western Russia from September and onwards. First stop will be the Nordic sustainability conference “The Art of Co-creation” in Umeå, September 17-19.
