Nordic Economic Policy Review (NEPR)

The Nordic Ministers of Finance launched a new economic political journal called the Nordic Economic Policy Review in 2009. The journal is published twice a year in the Nordic Council of Ministers' publication series. The aim of the journal is to make current economic policy research more useful for decision makers and to promote a broader discussion of economic policy issues in the Nordic countries. The magazine will highlight common Nordic issues and problems.

More about the journal (in Swedish)

In connection with the decision of the Nordic ministers of finance to launch the journal at their meeting on 10 June 2008 in Saltsjöbaden, they issued this joint statement, "Our countries have attracted international attention through the success of our economic policies that combine strong public finances, social cohesion and sustainable social security systems. A new Nordic journal will make it possible to develop our Nordic exchange of experience in the field of economic policy." The aim of the journal is to make current economic policy research more useful for decision makers and to promote a broader discussion of economic policy issues in the Nordic countries. The magazine will highlight common Nordic issues and problems.

NEPR is run by a steering group made up by a representative for each Nordic finance ministry; these people are the heads of the respective ministry's economic department, and by two academic researchers who are appointed by the Scandinavian Journal of Economics. The project manager for the journal is Mats Persson, Professor at Stockholm University.

The journal is designed as a three-year project funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers together with Handelsbanken's Research Foundations (Sweden) and the Swedish Association of Economists. A final evaluation will take place at the end of 2011.
