Working groups of the Nordic Council of Ministers for Business, Energy & Regional Policy (MR-NER)
The Working Group for Energy Efficiency
The main purpose of the Working Group for Energy Efficiency is to promote Nordic co-operation in connection with various energy efficiency initiatives in the community as well as to promote Nordic co-operation with regard to the implementation of EU/EEA directives and programmes.
Working Group for Renewable Energy
The Working Group for Renewable Energy is charged with helping and supporting the Nordic countries' political and professional work in renewable energy by exchanging information and setting up co-operation projects between the countries. In addition, the group will market Nordic technology and know-how on renewable energy to neighbouring countries, to the EU and globally.
The Electricity Market Group
Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have had a common electricity market for some time and are a good example of how European countries can liberalise electricity markets across country borders. Nevertheless, there are still opportunities to improve the general conditions for the Nordic electricity market.
The Nordic Working Group for Remote Communities (TBO)
The Nordic Council of Ministers' Working Group for Remote Communities is charged with helping and supporting efforts to secure sustainable energy in those areas of the Nordic Region which are either cut off from, or are in the periphery of, the central energy transmission net.
Working Group for exchange of experience and knowledge development (Urban Policies) under EK-R
The purpose of the working group is to formulate and initiate concrete proposals for knowledge development and exchange of experience and prepare input to Nordic policy development within the field of regional policy as regards the role of urban regions.
Working Group for exchange of experience and knowledge development (Future villages) under EK-R
The working group will provide exchange of experience and knowledge development on the role and influence of village policy on regional growth policy in the Nordic countries, and create better conditions for future co-operation between the countries' work for village development and growth.
Working Group for globalisation and cross-border co-operation under EK-R
The working group aims to promote a more integrated Nordic production environment, with openness to cross-border investments, companies, people and creative networks. The Working Group will develop proposals for the development of new efforts for the abolition of cross-border barriers.
Working Group for third generation regional policies under EK-R
The working group will develop proposals for a new Nordic third generation regional policy aimed at integrating all Nordic regions and local communities in the global economy in a way that the individual regions' innovative potential is optimized.
