A half-day conference on the challenges and governance in the Baltic Sea area, the Barents area, the North and the Arctic. Different topics to be discussed include energy security, utilisation of resources, control instruments etc.
Attendance is free but registration is required. Registration deadline latest 14 September 2010 to nor@um.dk.
The conference is co-organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Danish Foreign Ministry and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).

On the 14-15 October 2010, the first Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region will be held. There will be an appraisal of the progress with the implementation of the action plan and the future development of the strategy will be discussed. The Council of Ministers will moderate a session with a focus on green growth.

Seminar on the Danish priorities and action areas, 23 September 2010
The seminar will take stock of the implementation of the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and discuss how it can be used to facilitate priorities regarding EU's new growth strategy (Europe 2020) - including how co-operation in the adjacent areas can help to promote competitiveness and green growth opportunities, as well as what is required to get business more involved.

The Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia, in co-operation with the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, and the European Commission's office in Estonia is organising a conference on the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and the Internal Market on 16 - 17 September 2010. Discussions will include how the Baltic Sea Strategy can help to remove obstacles to freedom of movement and accelerate e-services and the implementation of the EU's Service Directive.

The Nordic Council of Ministers' co-operation with the European Commission has drawn attention to a limited knowledge of the work of the Council of Ministers in some regions in the Baltic Sea area. This could potentially prevent synergies arising between regional, Nordic and European initiatives and collaborative activities - and thus limit the possibilities for realising the objectives of the Baltic Sea Strategy.
Against this background, the Council of Ministers took the initiative, in co-operation with the Informal Baltic Sea Group (IBSG) and the EU Commission's DG Regional Policy, to hold a joint seminar in Brussels on 29 June 2010.

The 12th Baltic Development Forum Summit was held in Vilnius on 1-2 June 2010 under the title ”European Challenges – Regional Solutions, An Agenda for Jobs, Investments and Sustainable Growth”.
The Council of Ministers was also the strategic summit partner in 2010 and in that connection co-financed, amongst other things, the annual "State of the Region Report”
