A Nordic conference on Gender Equality in Schools is being held in Reykjavik on 21-22 September where best practice projects from the whole Nordic Region will be presented. The conference is open to all and is especially suited for teachers and other employees of the school system, parents, scholars and politicians.

Creativity and innovation are an important part of the resources that both nations and the global community need to harness, in order to get through the current global economic and social crisis. Innovation and Creativity in the Hands of the Young will highlight the achievement of young talent, giving them the opportunity to share their experience of innovative projects and give an interesting overview of the innovation infrastructures and their functions on a national level as well as Nordic or European level. The conference will strengthen academic discussion and policy involvement at a high level with unconventional methods at the conference.

The financial crisis, the housing market and households

Housing policy in the future will be discussed at the conference. Differences and similarities between the Nordic countries in the housing market will be illustrated, and estimates of the trend in the near future will be given, both in a Nordic and an international perspective. The conference is a forum where politicians, administrators, researchers and other interested parties in the Nordic housing and planning sector have a clear opportunity to exchange experiences. The conference is held under the auspices of the Icelandic Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2009. It is open for everyone. The conference will be held in the Scandinavian languages, with the possibility of interpretation. Conference - Care policies, children and gender equality in the Nordic countries

Informal ministerial meeting on language

The Danish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2010 will focus, amongst other things, on the Nordic community of language. Therefore, an informal ministerial meeting will be held, at which the ministers for education and research, for Nordic co-operation and for culture, will discuss how best to create Nordic synergy through increased co-operation on the understanding of neighbouring languages and foreign language teaching.

Nordic conference on women's entrepreneurship and leadership

Undervisnings- och kulturministeriet, Utbildningsstyrelsen och Nordiska ministerrådet anordnar ett expertseminarium om att yrkesutbildningens framtid. På seminariet presenteras den nordiska utredning om kompetensbehoven inom den nordiska yrkesutbildningen i den nordiska länderna som pågår just nu och man får höra aktuella anföranden om att förutse kompetensbehoven och praxisen i olika nordiska länder. Seminariet hålls på Utbildningsstyrelsen, Hagnäskajen 6 i Helsingfors.
