Finnish Presidency 2011
Finland holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2011, the main theme of which will be addressing climate change on all levels. The objective is to make the Nordic countries’ role as a strong and united front on climate issues even more visible.
Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi presented the Programme for the Presidency at a plenary meeting of the Nordic Council in Reykjavik on Tuesday 2 November.
Finland has identified three main priorities for the programme: dealing with climate change, supporting Nordic globalisation initiatives and stressing the importance of grassroots activity as the foundation for Nordic co-operation. The programme consists of sector specific programmes and goals.
