Administration and Law
The Department for Administration and Law (AJ) is responsible for advising, planning and following up on the administrative tasks within the Nordic Council of Ministers' Secretariat. Administration and Law also assists the Secretariats of the Nordic Council and the Nordic Culture Fund in administrative tasks.
AJ is responsible for the overall financial control, including accounting and legal affairs.
The department is responsible for recruiting and staff development, as well as staff administration, including payment of salaries, taxes and duties.
The services functions such as IT, reception and janitor also belong to AJ.
In addition to administrative tasks, the department is responsible for co-ordinating and preparing the meetings of the Council of Ministers for Legislative Affairs (MR-LAG).
Legal co-operation is an instrument used by the Nordic countries in their efforts to promote the basic principles in Nordic law, in accordance with the Nordic system of common values.
