Dagfinn Høybråten took over as Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers on 4 March 2013. Høybråten takes on his new role with the ambition of developing and strengthening Nordic co-operation.
Norwegian Dagfinn Høybråten has been employed as Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers since 4 March 2013. He has extensive experience as politician and a civil servant, and was a member of the Council of Ministers for 7 years as Minister of Health, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs for the Christian Democratic Party.
After having been a Nordic advocate all his life, Dagfinn Høybråten is finally in place at the heart of Nordic co-operation. "I am looking forward to developing and boosting Nordic co-operation. The Nordic countries have a strong historical and cultural community. We have excellent experience of co-operation. But there is much greater potential. As Secretary General I look forward to contributing to realising the opportunities".
