Nordic Council President

The Nordic Council President is elected for one calendar year at a time. The Presidency of the Nordic Council rotates between the countries in accordance with an agreed set of rules.

Presidium

Committees

Political co-operation in specific issues takes place mainly in the Nordic Council's five specialist committees and in its executive body - the Presidium.

National Delegations

Each Nordic country sends a delegation to the Nordic Council. The delegations make sure that decisions made in the Council and Council of Ministers are implemented at national level.

Party groups

The Nordic Council's elected members can form party groups. A party group must consist of at least four members and have representatives from at least two countries.

Secretary General of the Nordic Council

The Nordic parliamentary co-operation, the Nordic Council, is led by the Secretary General to the Nordic Council in Copenhagen with the help of staff at the Secretariat.

The Nordic Council Secretariat

The Nordic Council Secretariat prepares and follows up on the issues discussed by the Presidium, and by its committees and other organs

The Communications Department

Since 1999, a joint communications department (KOMM), run by the head of communications, has been shared by the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
