Political co-operation in specific issues takes place mainly in the Nordic Council's five specialist committees and in its executive body - the Presidium.

Culture & Education Committee: The Nordic Council Culture and Education Committee deals with issues and is responsible for the development of political initiatives in culture, education, training and research, including matters of language co-operation, new media, competence development and innovation in education.
Citizens' and Consumer Rights Committee: The Citizens' and Consumer Rights Committee deals with issues concerning the rights of citizens and consumers as well as associated overall matters concerning democracy, human rights, gender equality etc.
The Environment and Natural Resources Committee: The Nordic Council Environment and Natural Resources Committee deals with issues concerning the preservation and development of the environment in the Nordic countries.
Business and Industry Committee: The Business and Industry Committee deals with frameworks and parameters for the economy, production and trade, including freedom of movement in the market and in the labour market in the Nordic countries.
Welfare Committee: The Welfare Committee works with the Nordic welfare model, welfare, health and social policies
Control Committee: The Control Committee exercises the parliamentary control over work financed by joint Nordic funds.
Election Committee: The Election Committee organises elections called by the plenary session.
