An evalution of the impact of green taxes in the Nordic Countries

Over the past ten years, so-called green taxes have been introduced into the environmental regulatory framework in the Nordic countries.

This report examines their effectiveness by reviewing the existing literature on the effects of green taxes on CO2 emmissions and pesticides. Charges have been imposed on these evironmentally damaging substances in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Over forty studies are summarised and the methodological problems of describing the effects of green taxes are evaluated
