Nordic Council of Ministers’ funding programme for NGOs in the Baltic Sea Region
NGOs play a prominent role in the Nordic Council of Ministers’ co-operation with the Baltic States and Northwest Russia within a number of its priority areas, such as the environment and progress towards democracy, but also as partners in building networks and cross-border co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region.
Long-term loans from the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB)
NIB provides long-term complementary financing to projects that, in compliance with NIB's mandate, strengthen competitiveness and enhance the environment. NIB offers its customers -both private and public- tailormade loans and guarantees on competitive market terms.
Residence programme for culture researchers at the Nordic Arts Centre Dalåsen
Researchers who study visual culture, including design and architecture, are eligible to apply for a period of residence at the Nordic Arts Centre Dalåsen in Norway. Applications are only accepted from individuals.
Norwegian-Finnish Cultural Fund
The Norwegian-Finnish Cultural Fund aims to promote understanding and cultural connections between the two countries by providing funding for activities and initiatives which contribute to greater knowledge of and increased contact between the two people's culture, society and business life. The Norwegian-Finnish Cultural Fund and the Cultural Fund for Finland and Norway was established by the Norwegian and Finnish governments in 1979 in conjunction with the Nordic Council meeting.
A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller's Foundation for General Purposes
The Foundation provides grants for co-operation and cultural interaction between Denmark and the other Nordic countries. Application may be made by both individuals and organisations.
Scholarship programme for guest researchers at the Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala
The scholarships are reserved for senior researchers from the Nordic countries. Guest visits to the department usually last two months. The scholarships provide the applicants with the opportunity to travel to Uppsala and use the Institute's library and office. Applications are only accepted from individuals.
Residence programme for artists at the Nordic Arts Centre Dalåsen
Individual visual artists, designers and architects may apply.
Residence programme for groups at the Nordic Arts Centre Dalåsen
Groups that work with visual culture, including design and architecture, are eligible to apply for a period of residence at the Nordic Arts Centre Dalåsen in Norway. Applications are only accepted from groups.
Funding from the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation
The objective of the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation is to promote cultural links between these countries by supporting endeavours, in the form of subsidies out of the interest from the Foundation's capital, to increase knowledge about, and contacts between, the culture, economic life and people of both countries. The Cultural Foundation came into existence in 1960 after an agreement between the governments in 1958. The fund has a Swedish and a Finnish committee.
NCCS Research Foundation
The Nordic College of Caring Science Research Foundation was established in 2007. The purpose of the Research Foundation matches NCCS's definition and purpose, to support the scientific development of medical science as the basis for all care. The Foundation provides financial support for Nordic research projects that contribute to knowledge about respectful and dignified care of people in different situations, contexts and in different cultures, especially with regard to health, suffering, lifelong disability and impending death.
Scholarship programme: Field work in Africa
This scholarship programme provides grants for field work in Africa. Funding is provided for 30–40 students or researchers at Nordic universities annually. Applications are only accepted from individuals.
The Letterstedt Association
The aim of the association, according to its charter, is to promote fellowship between the five Nordic countries in terms of industry, science and art. The association's activities consist of granting funds for Nordic purposes, publishing the Nordisk Tidskrift, awarding the Jacob Letterstedt's Nordic Medal for Merit and other activities.
Nordic cultural co-operation between the capital cities
The Hässelby Foundation, the Nordic capital cities forum for cultural exchange, was established in 1963 and was funded by the five founders, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo, Reykjavik and Stockholm. Later, Mariehamn, Nuuk and Torshavn, capital cities in the autonomous territories joined. The aim was to spread interest and knowledge of the culture in the Nordic capital cities. The activities were discontinued in 2000 and the responsibility for the continued cultural co-operation was passed on to the responsible cultural bodies in the cities.
Scholarship programme: Study Africa in Uppsala
The scholarship is for a month's stay at the institute's library. The scholarship covers the cost of accommodation, as well as travel to and from Uppsala. Recipients will also receive a small cash payment to cover extra costs incurred during their stay. Applications are only accepted from individuals.
Grants from the Nordic Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research
The Nordic Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research supports comparative, socially relevant Nordic research into drug and alcohol abuse. A minimum of two Nordic countries must be involved in the individual research project. Both individuals and organisations are entitled to apply.
The Nordic Africa Institute's research scholarships for PhD students
The scholarship for PhD students involves a three-month stay at the Institute's library. The scholarship covers travel expenses to and from Uppsala and accommodation. Recipients will also receive a small cash payment to help cover extra costs during the stay. Applications are only accepted from individuals.
The Baltic Sea Region Programme
The Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 is one of the key transnational programmes in the EU's Territorial Co-operation. The programme has a budget of Euro 236.6 million and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund - ERDF), the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument - ENPI and funding from the Norwegian state. In addition there is regional financing.
Funding from the Finnish-Danish Foundation
The aim of the Finnish-Danish Foundation is to promote relations and cultural exchange between Finland and Denmark and to increase the countries’ mutual awareness and knowledge. The Finnish-Danish Cultural Foundation and the Danish-Finnish Cultural Foundation were founded in 1981 by the governments of Finland and Denmark to improve co-operation and contacts between the countries.
Funding from the Icelandic-Finnish Cultural Foundation
The aim is to promote relations and cultural exchange between Finland and Iceland and to increase the countries’ mutual awareness and knowledge. The Icelandic-Finnish Cultural Foundation was founded in 1975. In 2008 the government of Iceland began to support the Foundation with grants and scholarships with an annual appropriation.
Grants from the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology
The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology provides support for research projects, working party meetings, travel, study tours and translation. At least three Nordic countries must be involved.
